Kathryn & James' gorgeous Villa Farm York Wedding

Kathryn and James chose the stunning Villa Farm in York as their wedding venue because it gave them the barn and outdoor style wedding they wanted, with onsite accommodation for all their friends and family.

GETTING READY

James decided to get ready at home so he could be with their two beautiful dogs Nelly and Willow before they went to the dog sitter for the day. My second shooter Becki headed there to get some shots of James getting ready. I headed to Villa Farm where Kathryn was getting ready in one of the beautiful cottages. Her family were all there enjoying the sunshine and had a picnic before getting into their wedding attire. Guests in the cottage next door played cricket and it was so lovely and chilled out.

THE CEREMONY

Kathryn and James had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in the grounds of Villa Farm. Kathryn and her bridesmaids walked down the long path to meet a very nervous James. It was a lovely ceremony and as they walked back down the aisle the couples were showered in confetti.

THE RECEPTION

The afternoon was just as chilled as the morning, with beer and gin. garden games and two four-legged visitors. I particularly enjoyed taking photos as people launched balls at tin cans. It was an opportunity to get some really unusual photos. The speeches were great fun and they were dispersed between the meal. Each table had their own roast and one guest was given a chef's hat, apron and calving knife to serve everyone. I thought this was a lovely way of making sure everyone ate at a really similar time.

THE EVENING

We headed for a little walk in the cornfields before the evening guests arrived. The first dance was brilliant, and a few moments later James and his friends surprised everyone with a fully choreographed routine to the Backstreet Boys.

Here's a little bit more about Kat and James:

HOW DID YOU MEET?

The romantic Plenty of Fish

DESCRIBE THE PROPOSAL:

We were in Bamburgh Northumberland with my (Kathryn’s) family for my 30th birthday. Bamburgh is special to us as it’s where James’s grandparents lived when he was growing up, it was also where we went on our first mini-break together. We were walking along the beach, walking the dogs when James got down on one knee. It was a panic proposal as he was trying to find a gap in all the people who were around so he also had two bags of poop in his hands from the dogs, but we don’t talk about that, haha!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR VENUE?

How relaxed it is, and how beautiful the setting is... and the fact we can have our dogs there!!

WHAT ARE  YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ABOUT YOUR WEDDING (APART FROM GETTING MARRIED)?

Having all our family and friends together, it doesn’t happen very often. Having our little girl there to watch us get married even though she’s too young to remember and will probably be asleep! And letting our hair down after a stressful few months of moving house, having a baby and planning a wedding!
